Size and frame guide

Measure your wall, compare the visual presence of each format and check the final frame size. The configurator always maintains the full proportions of the work.

Read scale

Use your wall, not just the inches

The same work changes presence significantly depending on its size. Compare it to a known piece of furniture, then check the exterior size of the chosen presentation.

1. Measure the wallNote the width and height actually available.
2. Simulate the formatLay masking tape to the dimensions of the work.
3. Add the frameConsider the exterior footprint shown.
4. Keep airLeave visual space around the painting.

Understanding clutter

The presentation changes the final volume

Rolled canvasThe format shown matches the image. The canvas must then be stretched or framed locally.
Canvas stretchedThe 38mm chassis adds depth to the wall, without adding a frame around the image.
Floating frameThe frame surrounds the canvas with visual space. So plan for an overall slightly larger than the size of the image.
Frame colorsBlack, white, natural, brown, gold or silver can be offered; the classic Fine Art frame also offers grays depending on the configuration.

Step 1

Measure available space

1

Demarcate the area

Measure the free width and height of the wall, taking into account furniture, switches, lighting and other works.

2

Simulate the format

Reproduce the dimensions with masking tape or sheets of paper. Look at the result from the main viewpoints of the room.

3

Add the finish

A classic or floating frame increases exterior bulk. So compare the image size and the final dimension presented.

Tip: allow regular breathing around the work. Above a piece of furniture, think about the width of the whole, not just about an object placed in the center.

Step 2

Choose the desired visual presence

Desired effect Approach To check
Discreet accent A compact format surrounded by negative space. Readability of details at the usual distance.
Balanced focal point A work clearly visible without occupying all the available width. Alignment with the furniture or the main axis of the room.
Monumental presence A large format that structures the wall. The recoil, accesses, final weight and hanging method.
Frame wall A size consistent with the other elements of the composition. Spacing and exterior dimensions, including frames.

Step 3

Respect the orientation and proportions of the work

Horizontal

For a wide area

Naturally fits over a sofa, sideboard or bed when the composition extends in width.

Vertical

To give height

Fits narrow walls, between two openings or in a space where the eye must rise.

Square or close to square

For a compact focal point

Works well alone on a tightened wall or as a central element of a composition.

The proposed dimensions are calculated based on the original ratio: the image is neither stretched nor automatically cropped to enter a standard format.

The frames, colors and formats actually available depend on the country, size and production route. The configurator of each work remains the reference.

Practical questions

Before validating your size

Does the size shown still include the frame?

No. The selected size corresponds to the work or the face of the support. The exterior bulk increases when a frame is added; use the instructions above to allow this margin.

Can I order any size for each work?

No. List depends on image ratio, media, finish and country of delivery. Only technically available combinations are displayed.

How to avoid a format that is too small?

Test its actual dimensions on the wall and observe them from the usual viewing distance. In a character-rich scene, check that details remain readable.

Who should install a large work?

The fixing must be adapted to the final weight and the type of wall. For a large format or if in doubt, call in a qualified framer or installer.
